Financing Opportunities

Special Mortgage Products

Special financing is available to help you purchase your Homeport home!  Through the Huntington Hometown Mortgage, buyers may enjoy reduced interest rates, no Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI) payments, and one of the lowest down payment requirements around.  Rates are based on current market conditions and buyer credit scores.  Most home buyers using the Hometown Mortgage pay several hundred dollars less per monthly payment. Contact Angela today for a preliminary evaluation.  Other partner lenders also offer competitive mortgage products with benefits such as FHA secured loans, flexible credit requirements, and compatibility with Down Payment Assistance and other grant programs. Or select the lender of your choice and our knowledgeable staff will be glad to guide them through the Homeport homebuyer process.

Tax Abatement

Tax Abatement reduces the amount you pay for property taxes!  Many Homeport new build and renovated homes are located within investment districts which make them eligible for tax abatement and this can save you hundreds of dollars a month! This means there are no new taxes paid on the improved value of land.  For eligible new construction or rehabbed homes, you only pay the property taxes that were due before Homeport built or renovated the property!  This can amount to a significant savings for up to 15 years.  Many of our homebuyers in the North of Broad development pay just over $100 annually in property taxes for the first 15 years of ownership! American Addition, The Crossing at Joyce, and Rich Street Walk also benefit from tax abatement.

Grants & Down Payment Assistance

Down Payment Assistance, forgivable loans and grants available exclusively to Homeport homebuyers can help by reducing the amount of your mortgage! Homeport has partnerships with the City of Columbus, Franklin County, and other organizations that can offer eligible buyers up to $6,000 for down payment and closing costs, and up to $30,000 in principal reduction based on buyer eligibility. Contact Angela today to determine your eligibility.

Income Eligibility Requirements

Because providing affordable homes to working families is core to our mission, most Homeport homes are available to households who earn up to 120% of the Area Median Income.

Table of Income Limits

For example, a family of three can earn up to $73,350 and still qualify to purchase a home, often receiving grant and down payment assistance! Some Homeport homes have more stringent requirement and the entire household income must be considered when determining eligibility. Think you won’t qualify? You’ll be surprised. Contact Angela today to find out.
